The urban area counts near 1,000,000 people and the conglomerate metropolitan area Randstad near 7,000,000 inhabitants. Amsterdam is famous for its canals, many of them you can find within the city centre.
Amsterdam is famous for many interesting museums: the Stedelijk Museum, the Rembrandt House Museum, the symphony orchestra,the Concertgebouworkest. The Van Gogh Museum gathers the largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings in the whole world. A famous tourist attraction is also Anne Frank House. Amsterdam is also famous for its red-light district - de Wallen. Coffee shops near the Wallen, sell cannabis - it is not quite legal but only when in great quantities.
